This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Blinkr collects, why we use it, how it may be shared and the choices and rights available to you.

The information Blinkr processes depends on how you use the service.

Account information

This may include:

  • name;
  • email address;
  • account identifier;
  • profile image; and
  • account status.

Professional and profile information

This may include:

  • profession;
  • employment and professional experience;
  • skills;
  • education;
  • qualifications;
  • languages;
  • industries;
  • interests;
  • business interests;
  • goals;
  • availability; and
  • participation preferences.

Resources and contributions

You may choose to describe resources you could potentially contribute, including:

  • workspace;
  • equipment;
  • tools;
  • vehicles;
  • professional knowledge;
  • professional networks;
  • business connections; or
  • other assets or resources.

Location information

Blinkr may process information such as:

  • country;
  • region;
  • city;
  • approximate geographic location;
  • preferred travel distance; and
  • remote or local participation preferences.

Blinkr does not need to publicly display your precise home location in order to provide opportunity-discovery functionality.

CVs and uploaded information

If you choose to upload a CV or another supported document, Blinkr may process its contents to help identify information such as professional experience and skills.

Opportunity and platform activity

We may process information about how you use Blinkr, including:

  • opportunities shown to you;
  • opportunities you save;
  • expressions of interest;
  • rejected suggestions;
  • team participation;
  • referrals;
  • feedback; and
  • other actions required to provide the service.

Technical information

Blinkr may process limited technical information necessary to operate, protect and troubleshoot the service, such as:

  • IP address;
  • browser or device information;
  • session information; and
  • security or error logs.

3. Information received through Google or LinkedIn

If you choose to sign in using Google, LinkedIn or another supported service, that provider may send Blinkr information you have authorised it to share.

Depending on the provider and permissions, this may include information such as:

  • your name;
  • email address;
  • profile image;
  • professional headline; or
  • other specifically authorised profile information.

Blinkr will not assume that signing in through a third-party provider gives us unrestricted access to your account or profile.

If Blinkr later offers optional import of additional professional information, we will clearly explain what information is requested before you authorise the connection.

4. How we use personal information

We may use personal information to:

Provide and manage your account

For example:

  • registration;
  • authentication;
  • account management; and
  • support.

Build and maintain your Blinkr profile

This enables the platform to understand what you may be able or willing to contribute.

Discover potential opportunities

Blinkr may analyse relevant profile information to identify potentially useful combinations of people, capabilities and resources.

Improve opportunity analysis

Where appropriate, software-based ranking methods and AI-assisted analysis may be used to improve or explain possible opportunities.

Facilitate teams and collaboration

If you express interest in an opportunity, relevant information may be used to support team formation and collaboration.

Improve the service

We may use feedback and service activity to understand whether recommendations are useful and improve Blinkr.

Protect Blinkr and its users

We may process information where necessary for:

  • security;
  • fraud prevention;
  • abuse prevention;
  • troubleshooting; and
  • enforcement of our Terms.

Meet legal obligations

Some information may be processed or retained where required by applicable law.

5. Legal bases for processing

Depending on the activity, Blinkr may process personal information because:

  • it is necessary to provide a service or feature you requested;
  • it is necessary for our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving Blinkr, where those interests are not overridden by your rights;
  • you have given consent for a specific optional activity where consent is required; or
  • processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw that consent.

Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawfully carried out before withdrawal.

6. Recommendations and AI-assisted processing

Blinkr does not rely exclusively on generative AI.

Blinkr may use a combination of:

  • structured profile data;
  • application logic;
  • ranking and matching methods;
  • candidate-selection algorithms; and
  • AI-assisted analysis.

Basic potential combinations may be identified without generative AI.

AI may be used where appropriate to analyse promising combinations, explain possible opportunities, identify gaps or suggest potential business ideas.

7. External AI services

Some Blinkr features may use external AI technology providers.

Where an external provider is used, Blinkr aims to send only information reasonably necessary for the relevant task.

Information such as passwords, authentication tokens and unnecessary private contact information should not be sent to an AI provider for opportunity analysis.

The exact providers and processing arrangements will be reviewed and documented before production use.

8. Profile visibility and sharing with other users

Not all profile information must necessarily be visible to every Blinkr user.

Blinkr may provide visibility settings controlling whether information is:

  • private;
  • used internally for opportunity discovery;
  • shown after mutual interest; or
  • visible more broadly.

When Blinkr suggests a team or opportunity, relevant information about potential participants may be shown according to the applicable privacy and visibility settings.

9. Service providers

Blinkr may use service providers to operate the platform, for example for:

  • hosting;
  • authentication;
  • email;
  • technical infrastructure;
  • AI services; and
  • security.

These providers may process personal information only as permitted by their role, applicable contracts and applicable data-protection law.

10. International transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the European Economic Area.

Where this occurs, Blinkr will use an appropriate legal transfer mechanism where required by applicable law.

11. How long we keep information

Blinkr keeps personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including operation of your account, security, dispute handling and legal obligations.

Before production launch, Blinkr will document verified retention periods for relevant categories of data, including account information, uploaded CVs, logs and deleted-account data.

Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, or where we are required to keep it for legal, security, accounting, or other legitimate reasons.

In general, we apply the following retention periods:

  • Account and profile data: kept while your Blinkr account is active. If you delete your account, the data is removed from the active system within a reasonable period, normally within 30 days, unless we need to keep certain information for legal or security reasons.
  • Deleted account data in backups: may remain in secure backups for up to 90 days before being permanently overwritten or deleted.
  • Contact form messages and support requests: normally kept for up to 12 months after the last communication, unless a longer period is needed to deal with an ongoing issue or legal matter.
  • Security and server logs: normally kept for up to 90 days, unless they are needed for the investigation of security incidents, fraud, abuse, or technical problems.
  • Consent and privacy records: may be kept for as long as needed to show that Blinkr has complied with its legal obligations.
  • Transaction, payment, accounting, or tax records: kept for the period required under applicable Dutch and EU law.
  • Legal claims and disputes: relevant information may be kept for as long as reasonably necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
  • Anonymised data: information that can no longer identify you may be kept for longer because it is no longer personal data.

When a retention period ends, we delete the personal data or anonymise it where appropriate.

We may review these periods from time to time and change them where necessary to meet legal, technical, or operational requirements.

12. Account deletion

You may request deletion of your Blinkr account.

Where applicable, personal information associated with the account will be deleted or anonymised unless Blinkr has a lawful reason to retain specific information for a limited period.

13. Access and data export

Where applicable under data-protection law, you may request access to your personal information and obtain a copy of information relating to you.

Blinkr intends to provide reasonable account/data export functionality as the platform develops.

14. Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights including:

  • access to your personal information;
  • correction of inaccurate information;
  • deletion;
  • restriction of processing;
  • objection to certain processing;
  • data portability; and
  • withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

15. Sensitive information

Blinkr does not normally need information about matters such as:

  • health;
  • religion;
  • political opinions;
  • sexual orientation; or
  • other special categories of personal data

for ordinary opportunity discovery.

Please avoid entering unnecessary sensitive personal information into free-text profile fields, CVs or other uploads unless Blinkr specifically requests it for a lawful purpose.

16. Adults

Blinkr is intended for adults aged 18 or older.

The service is not intended to create profiles for children.

17. Security

Blinkr uses reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration.

No online service can guarantee absolute security.

18. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Blinkr develops or legal requirements change.

The current version will always be published on the Blinkr website.

Where a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide appropriate notice.
